John did baptize in the wilderness, and preach the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins.

גַּם־ חֲסִידָ֣ה בַשָּׁמַ֗יִם יָֽדְעָה֙ מֽוֹעֲדֶ֔יהָ וְתֹ֤ר וסוס וְסִיס֙ וְעָג֔וּר שָׁמְר֖וּ אֶת־ עֵ֣ת בֹּאָ֑נָה וְעַמִּ֕י לֹ֣א יָֽדְע֔וּ אֵ֖ת מִשְׁפַּ֥ט יְהוָֽה׃

paraH so astu tanvaaaa\ tanaa ca tisraH pRthiviir adho astu vishvaaH

And he enquired of the LORD for him, and gave him victuals, and gave him the sword of Goliath the Philistine.

And that which remaineth of the flesh and of the bread shall ye burn with fire.

And that thou shouldest visit him every morning, and try him every moment?

My people, go ye out of the midst of her, and deliver ye every man his soul from the fierce anger of the LORD.
