וַיֹּ֤אמֶר שְׁכֶם֙ אֶל־ אָבִ֣יה וְאֶל־ אַחֶ֔יהָ אֶמְצָא־ חֵ֖ן בְּעֵינֵיכֶ֑ם וַאֲשֶׁ֥ר תֹּאמְר֛וּ אֵלַ֖י אֶתֵּֽן׃

לָאָ֛רֶץ יִֽהְיֶה־ לּ֥וֹ לַֽאֲחֻזָּ֖ה בְּיִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל וְלֹא־ יוֹנ֨וּ ע֤וֹד נְשִׂיאַי֙ אֶת־ עַמִּ֔י וְהָאָ֛רֶץ יִתְּנ֥וּ לְבֵֽית־ יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל לְשִׁבְטֵיהֶֽם׃

וְאַחֲרֶ֣יהָ לָקַ֔ח אֶֽת־ מַעֲכָ֖ה בַּת־ אַבְשָׁל֑וֹם וַתֵּ֣לֶד ל֗וֹ אֶת־ אֲבִיָּה֙ וְאֶת־ עַתַּ֔י וְאֶת־ זִיזָ֖א וְאֶת־ שְׁלֹמִֽית׃

וַיֹּאמְר֤וּ כָל־ הַנְּשִׂיאִים֙ אֶל־ כָּל־ הָ֣עֵדָ֔ה אֲנַ֙חְנוּ֙ נִשְׁבַּ֣עְנוּ לָהֶ֔ם בַּֽיהוָ֖ה אֱלֹהֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל וְעַתָּ֕ה לֹ֥א נוּכַ֖ל לִנְגֹּ֥עַ בָּהֶֽם׃
