yuuyaM hi SThaa rathyo\ nas tanuunaaM yuuyaM dakSasya vacaso babhuuva

ajayo gaa ajayaH shuura somam avaasRjaH sartave sapta sindhuun

And I will walk among you, and will be your God, and ye shall be my people.

bRhaspatiH prathamaM jaayamaano maho jyotiSaH parame vyo\man

yad anyaasu vRSabho roraviiti so anyasmin yuuthe ni dadhaati retaH

pibaa-pibed indra shuura somam maa riSaNyo vasavaana vasuH san

ye gomantaM vaajavantaM suviiraM rayiM dhattha vasumantam purukSum

And God came unto Balaam, and said, What men are these with thee?

vaamaM dhattha manave vishvavedaso juhvaanaaya pracetase

Teach me thy way, O LORD; I will walk in thy truth: unite my heart to fear thy name.

yo arcato brahmakRtim aviSTho yuuyam paata svastibhiH sadaa naH

pra vo mahiim aramatiM kRNudhvam pra puuSaNaM vidathya\M na viiram

Go forth of the ark, thou, and thy wife, and thy sons, and thy sons’ wives with thee.

Unto whom alone the earth was given, and no stranger passed among them.

pra baahavaa sisRtaM jiivase na aa no gavyuutim ukSataM ghRtena

yajasva hotar iSito yajiiyaan agne baadho marutaaM na prayukti

sahasriyaaso apaaM normaya aasaa gaavo vandyaaso nokSaNaH

ta id ugraaH shavasaa dhRSNuSeNaa ubhe yujanta rodasii sumeke

For thou wilt light my candle: the LORD my God will enlighten my darkness.

He shall not cry, nor lift up, nor cause his voice to be heard in the street.

adite mitra varuNota mRLa yad vo vayaM cakRmaa kac cid aagaH

yo arcato brahmakRtim aviSTho yuuyam paata svastibhiH sadaa naH

shaye vavrish carati jihvayaadan rerihyate yuvatiM vishpatiH san

Neither shalt thou set thee up any image; which the LORD thy God hateth.
