yasmai tvaM vaso daanaaya shikSasi sa raayas poSam ashnute

For the ways of man are before the eyes of the LORD, and he pondereth all his goings.

But I know thy abode, and thy going out, and thy coming in, and thy rage against me.

apuurvyaa purutamaany asmai mahe viiraaya tavase turaaya

Shall vain words have an end? or what emboldeneth thee that thou answerest?

ime cetaaro anRtasya bhuurer mitro aryamaa varuNo hi santi

tiraH pavitraM sasRvaaMsa aashavo mandantu tugryaavRdhaH

And when the multitude heard this, they were astonished at his doctrine.

vyuchantii naH sanaye dhiyo dhaa yuuyam paata svastibhiH sadaa naH

ayuyutsann anavadyasya senaam ayaatayanta kSitayo navagvaaH

yathaa bhavema miiLhuSe anaagaa yo no daataa paraavataH piteva

That thou mayest regard discretion, and that thy lips may keep knowledge.

uurjo napaataM subhagaM sudiiditim agniM shreSThashociSam

And if she vowed in her husband’s house, or bound her soul by a bond with an oath;

etaa te agne janimaa sanaani pra puurvyaaya nuutanaani vocam

utoditaa maghavan suuryasya vayaM devaanaaM sumatau syaama

nuunam bhago havyo maanuSebhir vi yo ratnaa puruuvasur dadhaati

And he brought me to the door of the court; and when I looked, behold a hole in the wall.

Ye are not straitened in us, but ye are straitened in your own bowels.

My confusion is continually before me, and the shame of my face hath covered me,

indras te soma sutasya peyaaH kratve dakSaaya vishve ca devaaH

pari pra dhanvendraaya soma svaadur mitraaya puuSNe bhagaaya

For sin, taking occasion by the commandment, deceived me, and by it slew me.
