וַיֹּ֨אמֶר בִּלְעָ֜ם אֶל־ מַלְאַ֤ךְ יְהוָה֙ חָטָ֔אתִי כִּ֚י לֹ֣א יָדַ֔עְתִּי כִּ֥י אַתָּ֛ה נִצָּ֥ב לִקְרָאתִ֖י בַּדָּ֑רֶךְ וְעַתָּ֛ה אִם־ רַ֥ע בְּעֵינֶ֖יךָ אָשׁ֥וּבָה לִּֽי׃
הֲלֹֽא־ את אַ֠תָּה שַׂ֣כְתָּ בַעֲד֧וֹ וּבְעַד־ בֵּית֛וֹ וּבְעַ֥ד כָּל־ אֲשֶׁר־ ל֖וֹ מִסָּבִ֑יב מַעֲשֵׂ֤ה יָדָיו֙ בֵּרַ֔כְתָּ וּמִקְנֵ֖הוּ פָּרַ֥ץ בָּאָֽרֶץ׃
וַיְהִ֗י מִקְצֵה֙ שֶׁ֣בַע שָׁנִ֔ים וַתָּ֥שָׁב הָאִשָּׁ֖ה מֵאֶ֣רֶץ פְּלִשְׁתִּ֑ים וַתֵּצֵא֙ לִצְעֹ֣ק אֶל־ הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ אֶל־ בֵּיתָ֖הּ וְאֶל־ שָׂדָֽהּ׃
וַיֹּ֗אמֶר אִם־ תֶּחֱזַ֤ק מִמֶּ֙נִּי֙ אֲרָ֔ם וְהָיִ֥יתָ לִּ֖י לִתְשׁוּעָ֑ה וְאִם־ בְּנֵ֥י עַמּ֛וֹן יֶֽחֶזְק֥וּ מִמְּךָ֖ וְהוֹשַׁעְתִּֽיךָ׃
בִּימֵ֞י שַׁמְגַּ֤ר בֶּן־ עֲנָת֙ בִּימֵ֣י יָעֵ֔ל חָדְל֖וּ אֳרָח֑וֹת וְהֹלְכֵ֣י נְתִיב֔וֹת יֵלְכ֕וּ אֳרָח֖וֹת עֲקַלְקַלּֽוֹת׃
וְלָֽקְחוּ֙ מִן־ הַדָּ֔ם וְנָ֥תְנ֛וּ עַל־ שְׁתֵּ֥י הַמְּזוּזֹ֖ת וְעַל־ הַמַּשְׁק֑וֹף עַ֚ל הַבָּ֣תִּ֔ים אֲשֶׁר־ יֹאכְל֥וּ אֹת֖וֹ בָּהֶֽם׃
וַיָּ֨קָם בָּלָ֤ק בֶּן־ צִפּוֹר֙ מֶ֣לֶךְ מוֹאָ֔ב וַיִּלָּ֖חֶם בְּיִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל וַיִּשְׁלַ֗ח וַיִּקְרָ֛א לְבִלְעָ֥ם בֶּן־ בְּע֖וֹר לְקַלֵּ֥ל אֶתְכֶֽם׃
וָאַ֤עַשׂ אֲרוֹן֙ עֲצֵ֣י שִׁטִּ֔ים וָאֶפְסֹ֛ל שְׁנֵי־ לֻחֹ֥ת אֲבָנִ֖ים כָּרִאשֹׁנִ֑ים וָאַ֣עַל הָהָ֔רָה וּשְׁנֵ֥י הַלֻּחֹ֖ת בְּיָדִֽי׃
כֹּ֤ה אָמַר֙ יְהוָ֣ה צְבָא֔וֹת פָּקַ֕דְתִּי אֵ֛ת אֲשֶׁר־ עָשָׂ֥ה עֲמָלֵ֖ק לְיִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל אֲשֶׁר־ שָׂ֥ם לוֹ֙ בַּדֶּ֔רֶךְ בַּעֲלֹת֖וֹ מִמִּצְרָֽיִם׃
כֹּ֚ה אָמַ֣ר יְהוָ֔ה הַשָּׁמַ֣יִם כִּסְאִ֔י וְהָאָ֖רֶץ הֲדֹ֣ם רַגְלָ֑י אֵי־ זֶ֥ה בַ֙יִת֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר תִּבְנוּ־ לִ֔י וְאֵי־ זֶ֥ה מָק֖וֹם מְנוּחָתִֽי׃
All this have I proved by wisdom: I said, I will be wise; but it was far from me.
And through thy knowledge shall the weak brother perish, for whom Christ died?
But thou hast utterly rejected us; thou art very wroth against us.
Mine eye also is dim by reason of sorrow, and all my members are as a shadow.
And ye shall observe this thing for an ordinance to thee and to thy sons for ever.
False witnesses did rise up; they laid to my charge things that I knew not.
