המליך אות ד' וקשר לו כתר וצרפן זה עם זה, וצר בו מאדים בעולם, ושני בשבת בשנה, ועין שמאל בנפש:
פֶּ֣רֶה ׀ לִמֻּ֣ד מִדְבָּ֗ר בְּאַוַּ֤ת נפשו נַפְשָׁהּ֙ שָׁאֲפָ֣ה ר֔וּחַ תַּאֲנָתָ֖הּ מִ֣י יְשִׁיבֶ֑נָּה כָּל־ מְבַקְשֶׁ֙יהָ֙ לֹ֣א יִיעָ֔פוּ בְּחָדְשָׁ֖הּ יִמְצָאֽוּנְהָ׃
וַיִּכְתֹּ֣ב מֹשֶׁה֮ אֶת־ הַתּוֹרָ֣ה הַזֹּאת֒ וַֽיִּתְּנָ֗הּ אֶל־ הַכֹּהֲנִים֙ בְּנֵ֣י לֵוִ֔י הַנֹּ֣שְׂאִ֔ים אֶת־ אֲר֖וֹן בְּרִ֣ית יְהוָ֑ה וְאֶל־ כָּל־ זִקְנֵ֖י יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃
They are gone over the passage: they have taken up their lodging at Geba; Ramah is afraid; Gibeah of Saul is fled.
And he took up his parable, and said, Balaam the son of Beor hath said, and the man whose eyes are open hath said:
As the bird by wandering, as the swallow by flying, so the curse causeless shall not come.
That the saying might be fulfilled, which he spake, Of them which thou gavest me have I lost none.
