אִם־ תֹּאב֖וּ וּשְׁמַעְתֶּ֑ם ט֥וּב הָאָ֖רֶץ תֹּאכֵֽלוּ׃
גַּ֣ם מֵע֧וֹף הַשָּׁמַ֛יִם שִׁבְעָ֥ה שִׁבְעָ֖ה זָכָ֣ר וּנְקֵבָ֑ה לְחַיּ֥וֹת זֶ֖רַע עַל־ פְּנֵ֥י כָל־ הָאָֽרֶץ׃
בְּנֵ֖י עַבְדֵ֣י שְׁלֹמֹ֑ה בְּנֵי־ סֹטַ֥י בְּנֵי־ הַסֹּפֶ֖רֶת בְּנֵ֥י פְרוּדָֽא׃
בִּקֵּ֣שׁ קֹהֶ֔לֶת לִמְצֹ֖א דִּבְרֵי־ חֵ֑פֶץ וְכָת֥וּב יֹ֖שֶׁר דִּבְרֵ֥י אֱמֶֽת׃
וַיֹּ֨סֶף ע֥וֹד דָּוִ֛ד אֶת־ כָּל־ בָּח֥וּר בְּיִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל שְׁלֹשִׁ֥ים אָֽלֶף׃
אַל־ יָנ֣וּס הַקַּ֔ל וְאַל־ יִמָּלֵ֖ט הַגִּבּ֑וֹר צָפ֙וֹנָה֙ עַל־ יַ֣ד נְהַר־ פְּרָ֔ת כָּשְׁל֖וּ וְנָפָֽלוּ׃
I beheld the earth, and, lo, it was without form, and void; and the heavens, and they had no light.
The boar out of the wood doth waste it, and the wild beast of the field doth devour it.
Thus I was; in the day the drought consumed me, and the frost by night; and my sleep departed from mine eyes.
