The king of Kedesh, one; the king of Jokneam of Carmel, one;
But we know that the law is good, if a man use it lawfully;
And at Hazarshual, and at Beersheba, and in the villages thereof,
And they made signs to his father, how he would have him called.
Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,
Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains:
And there was war between Rehoboam and Jeroboam all their days.
I will shew thee, hear me; and that which I have seen I will declare;

na ma indreNa sakhyaM vi yoSad asmabhyam asya dakSiNaa duhiita
taM tvaa ghRtasnav iimahe citrabhaano svardRsham
adhaa yo vishvaa bhuvanaabhi majmaneshaanakRt pravayaa abhy avardhata
ekayaa pratidhaapibat saakaM saraaMsi triMshatam
tvam etaani papriSe vi naameshaana indra dadhiSe gabhastau
asme rayiH paprathe vRSNyaM shavo .asme suvaanaasa indavaH
sahasradhaaro aty avyam arSati tam ii mRjanty aayavaH
ὄφρά μοι ἐξ ὤμοιο ἐρύσσῃς πικρὸν ὀϊστόν.
γυμνὸν ἄτερ κόρυθός τε καὶ ἀσπίδος, οὐδʼ ἔχεν ἔγχος,
Μυρμιδόνας δʼ ἄρʼ ἐποιχόμενος θώρηξεν Ἀχιλλεὺς
πᾶσαν, ὁπόσσον ἐπέσχε πυρὸς μένος· αὐτὰρ ἔπειτα
πρὸς μὲν ἁλὸς Κᾶρες καὶ Παίονες ἀγκυλότοξοι
ἐκ ποταμοῦ φεύγοντι Λυκάονι, τόν ῥά ποτʼ αὐτὸς
ἀλλʼ ὅτε δὴ τὸ τέταρτον ἐπέσσυτο δαίμονι ἶσος,
νῦν δέ σʼ ἀτιμήσουσι· γυναικὸς ἄρʼ ἀντὶ τέτυξο.
ἀμφότερον κόσμός θʼ ἵππῳ ἐλατῆρί τε κῦδος·
κῆρυξ καὶ Πρίαμος πυκινὰ φρεσὶ μήδεʼ ἔχοντες·
ἀλλʼ ὅτε δὴ τὸ τέταρτον ἐπέσσυτο δαίμονι ἶσος,
καρπαλίμως; τότε δʼ οὔ τι μετατροπαλίζεο φεύγων.
οἳ δʼ ἄλλοι φιλότητα καὶ ὅρκια πιστὰ ταμόντες
αὐτὰρ ἐπεὶ ἴδεν ἕλκος ὅθʼ ἔμπεσε πικρὸς ὀϊστός,
αὐτὰρ ἐπεί κʼ Ἀχιλεὺς θάνατον καὶ πότμον ἐπίσπῃ,
οἳ δʼ ἄλλοι φιλότητα καὶ ὅρκια πιστὰ ταμόντες
τὸν δʼ ἄρʼ ὑπόδρα ἰδὼν προσέφη κρατερὸς Διομήδης·
αὐτὼ δὲ στρεφθέντε μετὰ πρώτοισι μαχέσθην.
αὐτὰρ ἐπεὶ σπεῖσάν τʼ ἔπιόν θʼ ὅσον ἤθελε θυμός,
δεῦρʼ ἴτω ἐκ πάντων πρόμος ἔμμεναι Ἕκτορι δίῳ.
ἔκτοσθεν δὲ βαθεῖαν ὀρύξομεν ἐγγύθι τάφρον,
ذَلِكَ بِأَنَّ اللَّهَ مَوْلَى الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَأَنَّ الْكَافِرِينَ لَا مَوْلَى لَهُمْ
فَلَا تَضْرِبُوا لِلَّهِ الْأَمْثَالَ إِنَّ اللَّهَ يَعْلَمُ وَأَنْتُمْ لَا تَعْلَمُونَ
إِنَّ السَّاعَةَ لَآتِيَةٌ لَا رَيْبَ فِيهَا وَلَكِنَّ أَكْثَرَ النَّاسِ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ
