וְעַתָּ֞ה הִנֵּ֧ה פִתַּחְתִּ֣יךָ הַיּ֗וֹם מִֽן־ הָאזִקִּים֮ אֲשֶׁ֣ר עַל־ יָדֶךָ֒ אִם־ ט֨וֹב בְּעֵינֶ֜יךָ לָב֧וֹא אִתִּ֣י בָבֶ֗ל בֹּ֚א וְאָשִׂ֤ים אֶת־ עֵינִי֙ עָלֶ֔יךָ וְאִם־ רַ֧ע בְּעֵינֶ֛יךָ לָבֽוֹא־ אִתִּ֥י בָבֶ֖ל חֲדָ֑ל רְאֵה֙ כָּל־ הָאָ֣רֶץ לְפָנֶ֔יךָ אֶל־ ט֨וֹב וְאֶל־ הַיָּשָׁ֧ר בְּעֵינֶ֛יךָ לָלֶ֥כֶת שָׁ֖מָּה לֵֽךְ׃
וַיִּקַּ֣ח אָ֠סָא אֶת־ כָּל־ הַכֶּ֨סֶף וְהַזָּהָ֜ב הַֽנּוֹתָרִ֣ים ׀ בְּאוֹצְר֣וֹת בֵּית־ יְהוָ֗ה וְאֶת־ אֽוֹצְרוֹת֙ בֵּ֣ית מלך הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ וַֽיִּתְּנֵ֖ם בְּיַד־ עֲבָדָ֑יו וַיִּשְׁלָחֵ֞ם הַמֶּ֣לֶךְ אָסָ֗א אֶל־ בֶּן־ הֲ֠דַד בֶּן־ טַבְרִמֹּ֤ן בֶּן־ חֶזְיוֹן֙ מֶ֣לֶךְ אֲרָ֔ם הַיֹּשֵׁ֥ב בְּדַמֶּ֖שֶׂק לֵאמֹֽר׃
וַיֹּ֨אמֶר לִֽיהוּדָ֜ה נִבְנֶ֣ה ׀ אֶת־ הֶעָרִ֣ים הָאֵ֗לֶּה וְנָסֵ֨ב חוֹמָ֣ה וּמִגְדָּלִים֮ דְּלָתַ֣יִם וּבְרִיחִים֒ עוֹדֶ֨נּוּ הָאָ֜רֶץ לְפָנֵ֗ינוּ כִּ֤י דָרַ֙שְׁנוּ֙ אֶת־ יְהוָ֣ה אֱלֹהֵ֔ינוּ דָּרַ֕שְׁנוּ וַיָּ֥נַֽח לָ֖נוּ מִסָּבִ֑יב וַיִּבְנ֖וּ וַיַּצְלִֽיחוּ׃
וְאֵלֶּה֮ מִדּוֹתֶיהָ֒ פְּאַ֣ת צָפ֗וֹן חֲמֵ֤שׁ מֵאוֹת֙ וְאַרְבַּ֣עַת אֲלָפִ֔ים וּפְאַת־ נֶ֕גֶב חֲמֵ֥שׁ חמש מֵא֖וֹת וְאַרְבַּ֣עַת אֲלָפִ֑ים וּמִפְּאַ֣ת קָדִ֗ים חֲמֵ֤שׁ מֵאוֹת֙ וְאַרְבַּ֣עַת אֲלָפִ֔ים וּפְאַת־ יָ֕מָּה חֲמֵ֥שׁ מֵא֖וֹת וְאַרְבַּ֥עַת אֲלָפִֽים׃
And all Israel heard say that Saul had smitten a garrison of the Philistines, and that Israel also was had in abomination with the Philistines. And the people were called together after Saul to Gilgal.
And when they lifted up their eyes afar off, and knew him not, they lifted up their voice, and wept; and they rent every one his mantle, and sprinkled dust upon their heads toward heaven.

οὕτως καὶ ὁ Χριστός, ἅπαξ προσενεχθεὶς εἰς τὸ πολλῶν ἀνενεγκεῖν ἁμαρτίας, ἐκ δευτέρου χωρὶς ἁμαρτίας ὀφθήσεται τοῖς αὐτὸν ἀπεκδεχομένοις εἰς σωτηρίαν.
Οἴδατε δὲ καὶ ὑμεῖς, Φιλιππήσιοι, ὅτι ἐν ἀρχῇ τοῦ εὐαγγελίου, ὅτε ἐξῆλθον ἀπὸ Μακεδονίας, οὐδεμία μοι ἐκκλησία ἐκοινώνησεν εἰς λόγον δόσεως καὶ λήμψεως εἰ μὴ ὑμεῖς μόνοι,
νῦν δὲ ἔγραψα ὑμῖν μὴ συναναμίγνυσθαι ἐάν τις ἀδελφὸς ὀνομαζόμενος ᾖ πόρνος ἢ πλεονέκτης ἢ εἰδωλολάτρης ἢ λοίδορος ἢ μέθυσος ἢ ἅρπαξ, τῷ τοιούτῳ μηδὲ συνεσθίειν.
