וַיַּמְלִיכוּ֩ יוֹשְׁבֵ֨י יְרוּשָׁלִַ֜ם אֶת־ אֲחַזְיָ֨הוּ בְנ֤וֹ הַקָּטֹן֙ תַּחְתָּ֔יו כִּ֤י כָל־ הָרִאשֹׁנִים֙ הָרַ֣ג הַגְּד֔וּד הַבָּ֥א בָֽעַרְבִ֖ים לַֽמַּחֲנֶ֑ה וַיִּמְלֹ֛ךְ אֲחַזְיָ֥הוּ בֶן־ יְהוֹרָ֖ם מֶ֥לֶךְ יְהוּדָֽה׃

וְיָשַׁ֣ב ׀ בָּעִ֣יר הַהִ֗יא עַד־ עָמְד֞וֹ לִפְנֵ֤י הָֽעֵדָה֙ לַמִּשְׁפָּ֔ט עַד־ מוֹת֙ הַכֹּהֵ֣ן הַגָּד֔וֹל אֲשֶׁ֥ר יִהְיֶ֖ה בַּיָּמִ֣ים הָהֵ֑ם אָ֣ז ׀ יָשׁ֣וּב הָרוֹצֵ֗חַ וּבָ֤א אֶל־ עִירוֹ֙ וְאֶל־ בֵּית֔וֹ אֶל־ הָעִ֖יר אֲשֶׁר־ נָ֥ס מִשָּֽׁם׃
וְהוֹצֵאתֶ֨ם אֶת־ שְׁנֵיהֶ֜ם אֶל־ שַׁ֣עַר ׀ הָעִ֣יר הַהִ֗וא וּסְקַלְתֶּ֨ם אֹתָ֥ם בָּאֲבָנִים֮ וָמֵתוּ֒ אֶת־ הנער הַֽנַּעֲרָ֗ה עַל־ דְּבַר֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר לֹא־ צָעֲקָ֣ה בָעִ֔יר וְאֶ֨ת־ הָאִ֔ישׁ עַל־ דְּבַ֥ר אֲשֶׁר־ עִנָּ֖ה אֶת־ אֵ֣שֶׁת רֵעֵ֑הוּ וּבִֽעַרְתָּ֥ הָרָ֖ע מִקִּרְבֶּֽךָ׃
וַתֹּ֣אמֶר הָאִשָּׁה֩ אֲשֶׁר־ בְּנָ֨הּ הַחַ֜י אֶל־ הַמֶּ֗לֶךְ כִּֽי־ נִכְמְר֣וּ רַחֲמֶיהָ֮ עַל־ בְּנָהּ֒ וַתֹּ֣אמֶר ׀ בִּ֣י אֲדֹנִ֗י תְּנוּ־ לָהּ֙ אֶת־ הַיָּל֣וּד הַחַ֔י וְהָמֵ֖ת אַל־ תְּמִיתֻ֑הוּ וְזֹ֣את אֹמֶ֗רֶת גַּם־ לִ֥י גַם־ לָ֛ךְ לֹ֥א יִהְיֶ֖ה גְּזֹֽרוּ׃
וַיֹּ֤אמֶר יְהוֹרָם֙ אֱסֹ֔ר וַיֶּאְסֹ֖ר רִכְבּ֑וֹ וַיֵּצֵ֣א יְהוֹרָ֣ם מֶֽלֶךְ־ יִ֠שְׂרָאֵל וַאֲחַזְיָ֨הוּ מֶֽלֶךְ־ יְהוּדָ֜ה אִ֣ישׁ בְּרִכְבּ֗וֹ וַיֵּֽצְאוּ֙ לִקְרַ֣את יֵה֔וּא וַיִּמְצָאֻ֔הוּ בְּחֶלְקַ֖ת נָב֥וֹת הַיִּזְרְעֵאלִֽי׃
וַיֹּ֣אמֶר שָׁא֡וּל נֵרְדָ֣ה אַחֲרֵי֩ פְלִשְׁתִּ֨ים ׀ לַ֜יְלָה וְֽנָבֹ֥זָה בָהֶ֣ם ׀ עַד־ א֣וֹר הַבֹּ֗קֶר וְלֹֽא־ נַשְׁאֵ֤ר בָּהֶם֙ אִ֔ישׁ וַיֹּ֣אמְר֔וּ כָּל־ הַטּ֥וֹב בְּעֵינֶ֖יךָ עֲשֵׂ֑ה וַיֹּ֙אמֶר֙ הַכֹּהֵ֔ן נִקְרְבָ֥ה הֲלֹ֖ם אֶל־ הָאֱלֹהִֽים׃
Thus saith the LORD; Behold, I will raise up against Babylon, and against them that dwell in the midst of them that rise up against me, a destroying wind;
