πέμψον δʼ οἰωνὸν ταχὺν ἄγγελον, ὅς τε σοὶ αὐτῷ
μειδιόων βλοσυροῖσι προσώπασι· νέρθε δὲ ποσσὶν
Ἥρῃ δʼ οὔ τι τόσον νεμεσίζεται οὐδὲ χολοῦται·
νῶϊν δὴ τόδε πῆμα κυλίνδεται ὄβριμος Ἕκτωρ·
ὣς τὼ παρβεβαῶτε μάλʼ ἕστασαν ἀλλήλοιιν.
ἰοδόκον· μάλα δʼ ὦκα βέλεα Τρώεσσιν ἐφίει.
ἕλκωμεν, πάσας δὲ ἐρύσσομεν εἰς ἅλα δῖαν,
Ἕκτορʼ, ἀτὰρ Τεῦκρον Τελαμώνιον εὖχος ἀπηύρα,
δώῃ καμμονίην, γνώωσι δὲ πάντες Ἀχαιοί,
πύργῳ ἐφʼ ὑψηλῷ, περὶ δὲ Τρῳαὶ ἅλις ἦσαν·
Ἕκτορα δῃώσαντε μάχης ἄατόν περ ἐόντα.
στῆ δʼ εὐρὰξ σὺν δουρὶ λαθών, βάλε δʼ ὦμον ὄπισθεν·
τοῦ καὶ ἀπὸ γλώσσης μέλιτος γλυκίων ῥέεν αὐδή·
παμφαίνων, τοτὲ δʼ αὖτις ἔδυ νέφεα σκιόεντα,
οὐ γάρ μοι γενναῖον ἀλυσκάζοντι μάχεσθαι
τὸν μὲν ἐγὼ προσιόντα βάλον χαλκήρεϊ δουρί,
Ἕκτωρ δὲ πρὸς δώματʼ Ἀλεξάνδροιο βεβήκει
Πηλεΐδης δʼ ἑτέρωθεν ἐναντίον ὦρτο λέων ὣς
وَكَذَلِكَ نُصَرِّفُ الْآيَاتِ وَلِيَقُولُوا دَرَسْتَ وَلِنُبَيِّنَهُ لِقَوْمٍ يَعْلَمُونَ
