וְהֶעֱרִ֤יךְ הַכֹּהֵן֙ אֹתָ֔הּ בֵּ֥ין ט֖וֹב וּבֵ֣ין רָ֑ע כְּעֶרְכְּךָ֥ הַכֹּהֵ֖ן כֵּ֥ן יִהְיֶֽה׃
כִּ֛י כֹּ֥ה אָמַ֖ר אֲדֹנָ֣י יְהוִ֑ה הִנְנִי־ אָ֕נִי וְדָרַשְׁתִּ֥י אֶת־ צֹאנִ֖י וּבִקַּרְתִּֽים׃
וְאֵ֨ת שֶׁ֧מֶן הַמִּשְׁחָ֛ה וְאֶת־ קְטֹ֥רֶת הַסַּמִּ֖ים לַקֹּ֑דֶשׁ כְּכֹ֥ל אֲשֶׁר־ צִוִּיתִ֖ךָ יַעֲשֽׂוּ׃
וְהִנֵּ֖ה נָפַ֣ל הַקִּ֑יר הֲלוֹא֙ יֵאָמֵ֣ר אֲלֵיכֶ֔ם אַיֵּ֥ה הַטִּ֖יחַ אֲשֶׁ֥ר טַחְתֶּֽם׃
וְגַם־ אָהֳלֵ֥י מִקְנֶ֖ה הִכּ֑וּ וַיִּשְׁבּ֨וּ צֹ֤אן לָרֹב֙ וּגְמַלִּ֔ים וַיָּשֻׁ֖בוּ יְרוּשָׁלָֽ͏ִם׃
He will surely reprove you, if ye do secretly accept persons.
For the goodman is not at home, he is gone a long journey:
I would hasten my escape from the windy storm and tempest.
The Jews had light, and gladness, and joy, and honour.
The LORD knoweth the thoughts of man, that they are vanity.

arvaavato na aa gahi paraavatash ca vRtrahan
yad antaraa paraavatam arvaavataM ca huuyase
tubhyam agre pary avahan suuryaaM vahatunaa saha
shukrasyaadya gavaashira indravaayuu niyutvataH
yaa vRtrahaa paraavati sanaa navaa ca cucyuve
sa naH punaana aa bhara rayiM viiravatiim iSam
aa deveSu yatata aa suviirya aa shaMsa uta nRNaam
agnir hotaa daasvataH kSayasya vRktabarhiSaH
paviitaaraH puniitana somam indraaya paatave
vandasva maarutaM gaNaM tveSam panasyum arkiNam
ἀλλὰ μάλʼ ἐνδυκέως ἱκέτεω πεφιδήσεται ἀνδρός.
ἀλλὰ τὰ μὲν προτετύχθαι ἐάσομεν ἀχνύμενοί περ
πρόσθε λέων, ὄπιθεν δὲ δράκων, μέσση δὲ χίμαιρα,
στήσεσθαι; χαλεπή τοι ἐγὼ μένος ἀντιφέρεσθαι
ἕλκε δʼ ὑπʼ ἐκ βελέων, λελιημένος ὄφρα τάχιστα
τῇ ἴμεν ᾗ κεν δὴ σὺ κελαινεφὲς ἡγεμονεύῃς.
ὣς φάθʼ, ὃ δὲ ξυνέηκε, θέων δέ οἱ ἄγχι παρέστη,
ἀλλὰ κατὰ σταθμοὺς δύεται, τὰ δʼ ἐρῆμα φοβεῖται·
Τρῶας ἔπειθʼ Ἑλένην καὶ κτήματα πάντʼ ἀποδοῦναι,
ἀλλὰ τὰ μὲν προτετύχθαι ἐάσομεν ἀχνύμενοί περ,
τὴν δὲ μέγʼ ὀχθήσας προσέφη νεφεληγερέτα Ζεύς·
μακρῇς, ἃς εἶχον ταμεσίχροας· ὄσσε δʼ ἄμερδεν
ἀμφὶ δέ τοι τῇ ἐμῇ κλισίῃ καὶ νηῒ μελαίνῃ
πάντες γὰρ ἥμαρτον καὶ ὑστεροῦνται τῆς δόξης τοῦ θεοῦ,
τὴν δὲ μέγʼ ὀχθήσας προσέφη νεφεληγερέτα Ζεύς·
εἰ δέ κεν ὣς ἕρξῃς καί τοι πείθωνται Ἀχαιοί,
τοσσάδʼ ἐνὶ φρεσὶν ᾗσιν ἀνέσχετο κήδεα λυγρὰ
فَأُولَئِكَ عَسَى اللَّهُ أَنْ يَعْفُوَ عَنْهُمْ وَكَانَ اللَّهُ عَفُوًّا غَفُورًا
وَيَوْمَ يَعَضُّ الظَّالِمُ عَلَى يَدَيْهِ يَقُولُ يَا لَيْتَنِي اتَّخَذْتُ مَعَ الرَّسُولِ سَبِيلًا
