μήτι δʼ αὖτε κυβερνήτης ἐνὶ οἴνοπι πόντῳ
ἑξείης κατέδησαν, ὑπὸ γλωχῖνα δʼ ἔκαμψαν.
μὴ γένοιτο· ἐπεὶ πῶς κρινεῖ ὁ θεὸς τὸν κόσμον;

ἢ ἴθʼ, ἐγὼ δὲ μέτειμι· κιχήσεσθαι δέ σʼ ὀΐω.
μὴ μὰν ἀσπουδί γε καὶ ἀκλειῶς ἀπολοίμην,
ἦ καὶ φωριαμῶν ἐπιθήματα κάλʼ ἀνέῳγεν·
μάστιγι λιγυρῇ· τοὶ δὲ πληγῆς ἀΐοντες
Φοίνικες δʼ ἄγον ἄνδρες ἐπʼ ἠεροειδέα πόντον,
أَتَّخَذْنَاهُمْ سِخْرِيًّا أَمْ زَاغَتْ عَنْهُمُ الْأَبْصَارُ
قَالَ سَوْفَ أَسْتَغْفِرُ لَكُمْ رَبِّي إِنَّهُ هُوَ الْغَفُورُ الرَّحِيمُ
