הַשְּׂמֵחִ֖ים לְלֹ֣א דָבָ֑ר הָאֹ֣מְרִ֔ים הֲל֣וֹא בְחָזְקֵ֔נוּ לָקַ֥חְנוּ לָ֖נוּ קַרְנָֽיִם׃
וַיַּ֥עַל מֹשֶׁ֖ה וְאַהֲרֹ֑ן נָדָב֙ וַאֲבִיה֔וּא וְשִׁבְעִ֖ים מִזִּקְנֵ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃

τούσδε δʼ ἔα φθινύθειν ἕνα καὶ δύο, τοί κεν Ἀχαιῶν
ῥηξάμενος Δαναῶν πυκινὰς στίχας ἀσπιστάων,
οἶδα γὰρ ὥς τοι θυμὸς ἐνὶ στήθεσσι φίλοισιν
κεῖτο ταθείς· ἐκ δʼ αἷμα μέλαν ῥέε, δεῦε δὲ γαῖαν.
κτεινομένους ἐφέπων· ῥέε δʼ αἵματι γαῖα μέλαινα.
ἔσχʼ ὀδύνας· τὸ μὲν ἕλκος ἐτέρσετο, παύσατο δʼ αἷμα.
ὅπλεσθαι· τάδε δʼ ἀμφὶ πονησόμεθʼ οἷσι μάλιστα
ἀντίον ἐλθέμεναι· μάλα γὰρ χλωρὸν δέος αἱρεῖ·
σχέτλιος· αἴθε θεοῖσι φίλος τοσσόνδε γένοιτο
ἀθανάτοισι θεοῖσι Διὸς δόμῳ· οἳ δὲ ἰδόντες
Αἴαντος προφυγόντα μένος καὶ χεῖρας ἀάπτους·
θυγατέρεσσιν γάρ τε καὶ υἱάσι βέλτερον εἴη
σῷ θάρσει, ὅ τʼ ἐμὸν δολιχόσκιον ἔγχος ἔμεινας·
δεξάμενος διὰ παῦρα δασάσκετο, πολλὰ δʼ ἔχεσκεν.
τόν ῥʼ ἔβαλεν κεφαλῆς τε καὶ αὐχένος ἐν συνεοχμῷ,
ἀφρήτωρ ἀθέμιστος ἀνέστιός ἐστιν ἐκεῖνος
