עִבְרִ֥י לָכֶ֛ם יוֹשֶׁ֥בֶת שָׁפִ֖יר עֶרְיָה־ בֹ֑שֶׁת לֹ֤א יָֽצְאָה֙ יוֹשֶׁ֣בֶת צַֽאֲנָ֔ן מִסְפַּד֙ בֵּ֣ית הָאֵ֔צֶל יִקַּ֥ח מִכֶּ֖ם עֶמְדָּתֽוֹ׃
וַיְהִ֗י מִסְפַּ֞ר הַֽמֲלַקְקִ֤ים בְּיָדָם֙ אֶל־ פִּיהֶ֔ם שְׁלֹ֥שׁ מֵא֖וֹת אִ֑ישׁ וְכֹל֙ יֶ֣תֶר הָעָ֔ם כָּרְע֥וּ עַל־ בִּרְכֵיהֶ֖ם לִשְׁתּ֥וֹת מָֽיִם׃
וַיְהִ֣י ׀ כִּשְׁמֹ֣עַ אֵלִיָּ֗הוּ וַיָּ֤לֶט פָּנָיו֙ בְּאַדַּרְתּ֔וֹ וַיֵּצֵ֕א וַֽיַּעֲמֹ֖ד פֶּ֣תַח הַמְּעָרָ֑ה וְהִנֵּ֤ה אֵלָיו֙ ק֔וֹל וַיֹּ֕אמֶר מַה־ לְּךָ֥ פֹ֖ה אֵלִיָּֽהוּ׃
הִנְנִ֨י אֵלַ֜יִךְ יֹשֶׁ֧בֶת הָעֵ֛מֶק צ֥וּר הַמִּישֹׁ֖ר נְאֻם־ יְהוָ֑ה הָאֹֽמְרִים֙ מִֽי־ יֵחַ֣ת עָלֵ֔ינוּ וּמִ֥י יָב֖וֹא בִּמְעוֹנוֹתֵֽינוּ׃
And they came and besought them, and brought them out, and desired them to depart out of the city.
And said, Hitherto shalt thou come, but no further: and here shall thy proud waves be stayed?
Then said his wife unto him, Dost thou still retain thine integrity? curse God, and die.

pra samraaje bRhad arcaa gabhiiram brahma priyaM varuNaaya shrutaaya
yad iim ushantam ushataam anu kratum agniM hotaaraM vidathaaya jiijanan
ud iirayathaa marutaH samudrato yuuyaM vRSTiM varSayathaa puriiSiNaH
maatra puuSann aaghRNa irasyo varuutrii yad raatiSaacash ca raasan
abhy a\rSata suSTutiM gavyam aajim asmaasu bhadraa draviNaani dhatta

yaH shuurasaataa paritakmye dhane dabhrebhish cit samRtaa haMsi bhuuyasaH

وَإِذَا تُتْلَى عَلَيْهِمْ آيَاتُنَا قَالُوا قَدْ سَمِعْنَا لَوْ نَشَاءُ لَقُلْنَا مِثْلَ هَذَا إِنْ هَذَا إِلَّا أَسَاطِيرُ الْأَوَّلِينَ
