כַּמָּ֣ה לִ֭י עֲוֺנ֣וֹת וְחַטָּא֑וֹת פִּֽשְׁעִ֥י וְ֝חַטָּאתִ֗י הֹדִיעֵֽנִי׃

וַיַּֽעֲמֶד־ לוֹ֙ כֹּֽהֲנִ֔ים לַבָּמ֖וֹת וְלַשְּׂעִירִ֑ים וְלָעֲגָלִ֖ים אֲשֶׁ֥ר עָשָֽׂה׃

הַשָּׁמַ֣יִם שָׁ֭מַיִם לַיהוָ֑ה וְ֝הָאָ֗רֶץ נָתַ֥ן לִבְנֵי־ אָדָֽם׃

וְשַׂמְתָּ֥ אֶת־ הֶחָצֵ֖ר סָבִ֑יב וְנָ֣תַתָּ֔ אֶת־ מָסַ֖ךְ שַׁ֥עַר הֶחָצֵֽר׃

Then one of them, which was a lawyer, asked him a question, tempting him, and saying,

draviNodaa viiravatiim iSaM no draviNodaa raasate diirgham aayuH

ὁ δὲ θεὸς πλούσιος ὢν ἐν ἐλέει, διὰ τὴν πολλὴν ἀγάπην αὐτοῦ ἣν ἠγάπησεν ἡμᾶς,

paaviiravii tanyatur ekapaad ajo divo dhartaa sindhur aapaH samudriyaH

قَالَ يَا بُنَيَّ لَا تَقْصُصْ رُؤْيَاكَ عَلَى إِخْوَتِكَ فَيَكِيدُوا لَكَ كَيْدًا إِنَّ الشَّيْطَانَ لِلْإِنْسَانِ عَدُوٌّ مُبِينٌ

ajyeSThaaso akaniSThaasa ete sam bhraataro vaavRdhuH saubhagaaya

divi na ketur adhi dhaayi haryato vivyacad vajro harito na raMhyaa

Ἦν δὲ ἄνθρωπος ἐκ τῶν Φαρισαίων, Νικόδημος ὄνομα αὐτῷ, ἄρχων τῶν Ἰουδαίων·

And as the people were in expectation, and all men mused in their hearts of John, whether he were the Christ, or not;

ghRtasya naama guhyaM yad asti jihvaa devaanaam amRtasya naabhiH

For these are not drunken, as ye suppose, seeing it is but the third hour of the day.

But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you.

evaasmad agne vi mumugdhi paashaan hotash cikitva iha tuu niSadya

Δεῦτε ἴδετε ἄνθρωπον ὃς εἶπέ μοι πάντα ⸀ὅσα ἐποίησα· μήτι οὗτός ἐστιν ὁ χριστός;

divo na saanu stanayann acikradad dyaush ca yasya pRthivii ca dharmabhiH

tuurvann ojiiyaan tavasas taviiyaan kRtabrahmendro vRddhamahaaH

And on the seventh day ye shall have an holy convocation; ye shall do no servile work.

But it displeased Jonah exceedingly, and he was very angry.

tasyed ime pravaNe sapta sindhavo vayo vardhanti vRSabhasya shuSmiNaH

Deliver my soul from the sword; my darling from the power of the dog.
