tryaniikaH patyate maahinaavaan sa retodhaa vRSabhaH shashvatiinaam

aa manyethaam aa gataM kac cid evair vishve janaaso ashvinaa havante

andhasya cin naasatyaa kRshasya cid yuvaam id aahur bhiSajaa rutasya cit

tvaM jigetha na dhanaa rurodhithaarbheSv aajaa maghavan mahatsu ca

ashyaama mitraavaruNaa vayaM vaaM dyaavaa ca yatra piipayann ahaa ca

Is it not lawful for me to do what I will with mine own? Is thine eye evil, because I am good?

evaa patiM droNasaacaM sacetasam uurja skambhaM dharuNa aa vRSaayase

apnasvatii mama dhiir astu shakra vasuvidam bhagam indraa bharaa naH

diirghashrutaM rayim asme dadhaanaa yuuyam paata svastibhiH sadaa naH

Surely the wrath of man shall praise thee: the remainder of wrath shalt thou restrain.

na ye divaH pRthivyaa antam aapur na maayaabhir dhanadaam paryabhuuvan

kSaameva vishvaa bhuvanaani yasmin saM saubhagaani dadhire paavake

shaM no gobhyash ca puruSebhyash caastu maa no hiMsiid iha devaaH kapotaH

When the waves of death compassed me, the floods of ungodly men made me afraid;

ubhaa yad asya januSaM yad invata aad id yaviSTho abhavad ghRNaa shuciH

The shady trees cover him with their shadow; the willows of the brook compass him about.
