ava tyaa bRhatiir iSo vishvashcandraa amitrahan

The rich man had exceeding many flocks and herds:

And all the people saw him walking and praising God:

yudhmaM santam anarvaaNaM somapaam anapacyutam

asaami hi prayajyavaH kaNvaM dada pracetasaH

maataa putraM yathaa sicaabhy e\nam bhuuma uurNuhi

And he that killeth any man shall surely be put to death.

sajoSasaa uSasaa suuryeNa ceSaM no voLham ashvinaa

RtaM yemaana Rtam id vanoty Rtasya shuSmas turayaa u gavyuH

And the sons of Jether; Jephunneh, and Pispah, and Ara.

ye paatayante ajmabhir giriiNaaM snubhir eSaam

My defence is of God, which saveth the upright in heart.

sa marmRjaana aayubhiH prayasvaan prayase hitaH

madhvaH piitvaa sacevahi triH sapta sakhyuH pade

dhenuM ca vishvadohasam iSaM ca vishvabhojasam

upahuutaaH pitaraH somyaaso barhiSye\Su nidhiSu priyeSu

mo Sv a\dya durhaNaavaan saayaM karad aare asmat

And he commanded the multitude to sit down on the ground.

triiNi padaany ashvinor aaviH saanti guhaa paraH

nuunaM tad indra daddhi no yat tvaa sunvanta iimahe

Lay thine hand upon him, remember the battle, do no more.
